Job Summary
Dominion Energy's IT Generation team is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to provide support for our Power Generation, Project Construction, and Fuels Management groups. The successful candidate will be assigned to lead new system implementation projects, system upgrades, and maintenance support of existing systems. The ideal candidate will possess an excellent understanding of the BSA skillset and toolset and have a solid understanding of modern computing technologies. The ability to effectively communicate (written, verbal, presentation) with internal business partners, IT personnel, and external service providers is critical to success in this role. The Senior BSA will develop new and innovative processes to automate and reduce workload and add value to IT and our business areas. Additionally, the Senior BSA will guide and advise less experienced BSAs.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Act as a consultant to our internal business partners in regard to technology and process solutions.
* Provide guidance to our internal business partners by knowing what software systems they have in place and determining what those systems may be capable of going forward.
* Interface with internal business partners, IT groups, and external service providers to implement new systems, modify existing systems, and provide system maintenance support.
* Facilitate and lead requirements workshops for large and/or complex projects.
* Functionally deconstruct, analyze, and document our internal business partners' problems, processes, and needs.
* Define business requirements and test cases using structured methodologies.
* Effectively lead documentation of business requirements, test cases, use cases, and design thinking exercises.
* Facilitate finding, developing, and implementing viable technology solutions for our business partners by working with teammates, IT groups within the company, external service providers, and business partners.
* Manage multiple assignments and work priorities simultaneously.
* Provide written and verbal updates on projects and solutions to IT and business management.
* Develop and deliver training on new or revised system functionality to raise awareness and educate users and support personnel.
* Provide application and system support for multiple systems used by our internal business partners.
* Provide support for projects and troubleshooting efforts as assigned.
* Contribute to development of long-range system plans.
* Ensure products and services are aligned with business needs
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Required:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology, a business/technology consulting firm, or a utility business group with a preferred Bachelor's Degree (or)
* 7 years of experience in Information Technology, a business/technology consulting firm, or a utility business group with an Associate's Degree (or)
* 9 years of experience in Information Technology, a business/technology consulting firm, or a utility business group with a High School or equivalent degree
Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications
Preferred:
* IT experience in business systems analysis, in a large-scale environment, across multiple hardware and software platforms, or business unit experience that includes working closely with IT in the development and implementation of large-scale systems.
* Experience and understanding of the utility industry and/or power generation.
* Previous BSA or SA work experience.
* Strong documentation skills.
* Demonstrated ability to research and understand customer issues and requirements.
* Experience working with IT groups and service providers to apply technology solutions to businesses.
* Solid written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated organization and planning skills that include coordination of assigned projects, planning and scheduling, and time management.
* Ability to work independently, in a support capacity, or a lead role on critical short-term and long-term projects.
* Ability to successfully coordinate activities and solutions with team members and teams from multiple areas of the company.
* Experience and ability to lead process documentation efforts.
* Solid analytical skills and demonstrated skills in analyzing and solving problems and issues of varying complexity and providing detailed documentation regarding issues and resolution.
* Ability to manage multiple work efforts simultaneously.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes for both 'as is' and 'to be' states.
* Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for strengthening business processes and systems proactively.
* Capability and willingness to learn rapidly, ask questions, and retain the information provided during the process.
