What you will do - Essential responsibilities
Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Corporate Talent Acquisition, this position will drive and execute recruiting for all assigned positions. This will include the development and execution of effective recruiting strategies; the development of strong partnerships with hiring managers, candidates, and teammates; and the delivery of an iconic candidate and customer experience.
- Develop and execute effective recruiting strategies. This will include sourcing and identifying candidates through proactive and passive recruiting strategies - web searches, job boards, diversity groups, social networking, cold calling, database mining, professional organizations, job fairs, college and alumni communities, direct recruiting, assessment days, and agencies.
- Partner with Managers to prepare and extend employment offers to candidates
- Build strong partnerships with candidates and hiring managers to drive the recruiting process and serve as their primary point-of-contact
- Guide CarMax hiring managers through the interview and hiring process to ensure fair and consistent candidate selection methods
- Determine when to partner with leaders or to operate independently to problem solve and make recommendations with actionable solutions
- Develop and execute effective recruiting strategies that support CarMax's initiative regarding work force diversity
- Create job requisitions and accurately manage candidates through the recruiting workflow in CarMax's applicant tracking system
- Create job postings and ads used for carmax.com, major job boards (i.e, CareerBuilder, Indeed, LinkedIn) and other online resources
- Attend and participate in job fairs, outplacement events, college recruiting and/or other externally sponsored recruiting events
- Attend and participate in company-wide activities associated with personal development and/or organizational knowledge
Remote Work:
Work location is flexible if approved by the Company except that position may not be performed remotely from Hawaii or Colorado
Purpose of the role
The primary responsibility of the Senior Recruiter, will be to support recruiting functions for Strategy and Data Science. This will involve sourcing, reviewing applications/resumes, conducting interviews, and scheduling successful candidates for final interviews with the Management team. Other responsibilities include extending offers and other administrative duties.

Experience and Prerequisites:
- 4+ years of full life cycle recruiting experience within the last 5 years required
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of Applicant Tracking Systems
- Experience with creating candidate pipelines and engaging passive candidates
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support workload across multiple time zones
- Experience administering multiple processes at a time while meeting required deadlines
- Ability to set and manage one's own priorities and adjust to change in direction from manager
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and timely fashion
- Proven track record of successfully meeting hiring goals and building and maintaining strong relationships
- Four-year degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field preferred but not required
