The role:
Join our team as a traffic signal technician! You will be part of a team of technicians who repair and maintain ODOT's traffic signal systems, and who operate the environmental testing facility for traffic signal equipment. You will also work directly with traffic and design engineers in solving problems found in the design of traffic systems, and you will support the traffic signal aspect of construction efforts.

A day in the life:
- Work with engineering staff to raise and resolve problems relating to the performance and function of electrical and electronic systems and components.
- Work with management, engineering, contractors, and manufacturers to resolve problems found during environmental testing
- Create, improve, and perform equipment testing procedures
- Draw sketches, review and update plans and blueprints.
- Perform pre-activation and/or final activation tests, alignments, and adjustments on electrical and electronic field devices.
- Verify project construction is acceptable and that all components function correctly.
- Create and perform checklists to perform periodic preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic field devices.
- Provide technical assistance, in person or via telephone to field workers performing maintenance on field devices and systems
- Respond to reports of system outages and perform or coordinate repairs necessary to restore service.
- Troubleshoot, repair and calibrate equipment or systems.
- Use electrical and electronic test equipment.
- You will work outdoors, in all extremes of weather, heavy traffic conditions, and in poor air quality.
- You will work in close and tight spaces, and occasionally at heights of 3 meters or higher above ground or water.
- You will travel to work locations throughout the state, with overnight stays of up to a week at a time, with possible overtime.
- Work in enclosures containing exposed voltage potentials of 120 volts AC or greater, to ground.

What we need:
- Four (4) years of experience maintaining, testing and repairing electronic equipment.
Two (2) of the four (2) years must have been maintaining and repairing electronic traffic signal control equipment or electronic data collection and management equipment.
- An associate's degree in electronic technology AND
- Two and a half years (2.5 years; 30 months) experience maintaining, testing and repairing electronic traffic signal control equipment or electronic data collection and management equipment.
- Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME).
- Limited Manufacturing Plant Journeyman (PJ).
OR - General Journeyman Electrician (J).
