Environmental Compliance Specialist
Location: Seattle, WA*
Schedule: M-F
Pay Rate: $75,000-$82,000/yr (depends on experience)

We have an Environmental Compliance Specialist role open for a large company specializing in seafood who believes that their employees are the foremost reason for their success, allowing them to be the leader in the seafood industry. Responsibilities
- Implementation and administration of environmental policies, programs, and trainings
- Tracks and interprets laws and regulations impacting the business
- Assists in periodic tests, audits, reviews or inspections of organizational processes, environmental program data, trends, and processes
- Identifies potential areas of non-compliance, risks, gaps in documentation, opportunities for continuous improvement and suggests resolutions
- Collects and analyzes environmental samples, interprets findings, and recommends and implements corrective action as needed
- Gathers input of alleged compliance violations and escalates to executive leadership
- Gathers information in support of environmental permit applications and regulatory reports required by the various regulatory programs
- Provides technical support in company negotiations with regulators and assists with final review of reports and communications to regulators
- Assists field staff and management to understand applicable regulations and standards, prevent releases of pollutants and environmental incidents by investigating, identifying causes, and developing preventative measures and practices
- Builds successful cross-business partnerships by effectively communicating with internal stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience, OR Associate Degree and 4-6 years of experience, OR an equivalent of other relative experience and education
- Experience working with moderately complex environmental issues and problems
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations including but not limited to Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, and SPCC
- Can execute actionable work plans that drive compliance outcomes
- Strong communication, collaboration, influential, interpersonal skills with all levels of management
- Current or ability to obtain certifications for specific job tasks within 6 months of hire date, including but not limited to HAZWOPER, DOT HazMat, Spill Response, Storm Water, etc
- Strong training, reporting, analytical, presentation and organizational skills
- Results-oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the department as well as the overall organization
- Proficiency in computers to communicate, collect, analyze, and synthesize data, Microsoft Office applications and other operations applications
