Job Description Summary
The Accounts Payable Supervisor will oversee a team of Account Payable Specialists that ensures accurate and timely payment of invoices from approved suppliers, in a manner consistent with approved quality standards and performance requirements. The Supervisor will also be required to lead the development of the AP function to advance department and organizational goals, objectives, and interests. Finally, the Supervisor is also responsible for coordinating and leading the day-to-day operations of their teams.
The position will work with Plant and Administrative Personnel, Corporate Procurement, Corporate Finance, and external suppliers.
Job Description
Individuals in this position must:
* Manage assigned items in accordance with approved AP / Finance programs using the established policies
* Oversee an AP team processing payments, and ensure the payments are made correctly and are made in a timely manner
* Develop guidelines for proper invoice handling to maintain SOX controls and general ledger expense accounting
* Incorporate AP / Finance principles into daily work activities
* Validate invoices with purchase orders
* Complete daily payment runs timely and accurately
* Provide payment forecasts to Treasury
* Research and resolve any invoice discrepancies in an effective and timely manner
* Prepare general ledger reconciliations and reports at regular intervals (monthly, quarterly, and annually) to assist in overall business management and preparation of financial reports.
* Interview prospective employees and choose the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job
* Train and oversee employees involved in payable functions
* Provide accurate records management relative to the AP function in accordance with policies
* Assist with additional projects at manager's direction
* Assist in identification and implementation of cost improvement projects
* Assist plant procurement and plant stakeholders with invoice related issues
* Complete goal setting, performance management, and supervision duties with team members
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job.
* Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent related experience or training
* 5+ years of experience in Finance, Accounts Payable, or similar functions
* 3+ years of experience supervising or leading teams.
* Experience working in a supply chain or manufacturing industry a plus.
* Ability to leverage computer software programs, specifically SAP or a comparable ERP solution, in addition to office productivity tools
* Ability to manage a high volume of interactions and adapt rapidly to changing priorities, while managing deadlines and projects
* Ability to influence management and build effective teams
* Ability to work independently and as a team player, be organized, and plan ahead
* Ability to maintain, develop, and execute departmental vision
* Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to learn quickly while also leading and teaching others
* Ability to work in an office setting
* Travel required minimal, 10%
