Job Summary

**Please note that this position is based in Seattle, WA**

The Human Resources Manager provides full-service HR management, coaching, and support to the managers and employees of the assigned region.

Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the VP/GM to implement HR programs and policies at the local level
  • Provides coaching and guidance to managers and employees
  • Responsible for talent acquisition
  • Provides information and interpretation regarding CalPortland policies
  • Adheres to all legally mandated federal and state requirements
  • Oversees local payroll activities
  • Provides local training and development resources
  • Participates with other HR managers in providing input for corporate programs
  • Manages local HR administrative activities
  • Ensures Department of Transportation (DOT) and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) requirements are met
  • Participates in the grievance process for represented employee groups and manages disciplinary actions
Education

Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management or related field

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Experience as a Human Resource Generalist
  • Able to travel locally up to 50% of the time
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, listening and project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong understanding of employment law
  • Highly confidential and trustworthy
  • Motivated and energetic
  • Experience working with union contracts
