Job description

Basic Purpose

On November 5, 2021, the Occupational Safety and Hazards Administration (OSHA) published their Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) based on the federally mandated vaccine requirement for all employers with 100 or more employees. Our state has an OSHA-approved plan (through Labor & Industries - LNI) which we anticipate will be coming out with our state mandated vaccine requirements on or around December 5, 2021. Due to this, the City will be requiring that all new hires (hired after December 5, 2021) be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This condition of employment for new hires with the City of Lacey is, at this time, in response to the minimum standards of compliance outlined in the federal ETS and these requirements are subject to change depending upon the guidance that is still pending from our state OSHA-approved plan. Please be aware that an exemption may be granted for religious or medical purposes; however, accommodation requests will be subject to approval based on the essential functions required of the position.

Lacey Parks and Recreation manages three local high school swimming pools: North Thurston, Timberline, and River Ridge. During the non-school hours Lacey Parks and Recreation offers community programming such as swim lessons, aquatic fitness classes, open swim and facilitates rentals for private groups. This is a part-time position working approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.

Lifeguards are expected to follow the policies and procedures to maintain patron safety in the facilities.

Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching swim lessons in accordance with the Parks and Recreation Department's Learn to Swim Program.

This is a continuous recruitment and applications will be reviewed on an as-needed basis. The Hiring Manager reserves the right to make a hiring decision at any time. It is in your best interest to apply as soon as possible.
