Job description
* Purpose of Position
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist administers the day-to-day operations of the HR office. The HR Generalist manages the administration of the HR policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist reports to the Director of HR; assists and advises KWA managers about HR issues.
* Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Objectives:
* Safety of the workforce.
* Development of a superior workforce.
* Development of an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance.
* Personal ongoing development.
Development of the HR Department
* Assists with the development & administration of HR programs, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the KWA.
* Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
HR Information Systems
* Maintains employee-related databases. Prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and KWA. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
* Manages and maintains the administrative personnel electronic files.
* Advises & assists In Home Care Administrative Assistants with the maintenance of caregiver personnel files.
Employment
* Assists in the recruitment process for exempt and nonexempt employees and interns and volunteers using the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce.
* Maintains recruitment advertising through electronic advertising and job fairs. In collaboration with the Director of HR, Social Media Specialist and Business Development Manager.
* Assists in review of resumes for candidates and forwards qualified candidates to hiring managers.
* Serves on interview panels as needed.
* Conducts or causes to be conducted on-boarding and off-boarding of employees, interns and volunteers.
Employee Relations
* Assists with the development of HR policies for the KWA with regard to employee relations.
* Partners with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, programs and laws.
* May participate in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
* Advises managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the KWA.
* Assists with the implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs. Tracks and posts OSHA-required data and files reports.
Benefits
* Provides day-to-day benefits administration services. Assist or direct employees with claim issues.
* Develops and schedules benefits orientations and other benefits training.
* Assists in administering the 401(k) plan.
* Assists in maintaining and responding to worker's compensation claims.
* Assists in maintaining and responding to unemployment claims.
* Position Requirements, Competencies and Qualifications
* Satisfactorily pass criminal history & reference checks.
* General knowledge of employment law and practices.
* Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
* Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
* Effective oral and written communication.
* Excellent interpersonal organizational and coaching skills.
* Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
* Ability to work with multi-cultural workforce.
* Experience with maintain workers compensation program.
3.1 Educational Level
Associate's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent preferred.
3.2 Experience in Related Field
* Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in HR positions.
* Specialized training in employment law, employee relations, safety and labor relations, preferred.
3.3 Unique Expertise/Certification/Registrations
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or equivalent preferred.
* Working Conditions

* Physical demands:
* Type: sedentary work ability to perform administrative duties, typing, filing, bending over to low files, reaching high files.
* Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move an object.
* Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, standing, reaching with arms and hands, bending, stooping and driving to other offices, meetings or training.
* Work Schedule
* Ability to work 40-hour week and on call when necessary.

* Near Vision:
* Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
* Mid-range Vision:
* Clarity of vision at distance of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet.
* Far-range Vision:
* Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
