Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a passionate individual for our R&D Distribution Controls and Sensors group. You will be working on high voltage protective equipment located on distribution level of the Electrical Power System. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Participate in the design, implementation, and test of firmware/software systems.
2. Understand hardware and software interactions, and collaborate with Hardware Engineers.
3. Participate in the development of designs and test documentation.
4. Develop knowledge of SEL engineering processes.
5. Develop knowledge of SEL products and technology.
6. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
7. Understand. Create. Simplify.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
experience in one or more of the following areas:
-- Embedded systems firmware development including:
-- real-time firmware design
-- C/C++ and assembly languages
-- object oriented design
-- other scripting languages
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

Industrial controls
3-phase electric power systems
Modern communications protocols
Digital and analog circuitry
Digital communications and signal processing
Project management
