Job description

Do you love being poolside? Making sure people are having fun and being safe in the water? SJCC is hiring Lifeguards. We provide training and ongoing opportunities for certification and professional development. Weekend and evening shifts available.

The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe swimming environment for all swimmers by enforcing pool rules, facility rules, and following the pool schedule closely.

$15-18/hour

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Caution swimmers regarding unsafe behaviors.

Rescue swimmer in danger of drowning; administer first-aid/CPR when required.

Inspect facilities for cleanliness; monitor and record pool and hot tub readings (every three hours); report unusual readings to the Aquatics Director.

Perform regular pool maintenance as assigned by the Aquatics Director.

Open and close the pool as outlined in the Staff Manual.

Fill out accident reports thoroughly as accidents occur, distributing them according to protocol.

Organize pool based upon the pool schedule to meet the needs of the members.

Certificates and Licenses: The following certificates are required and must be maintained:

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid Certification or National equivalent

Current BLS and AED (Adult and Child)

Physical Demands: To perform the job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, walk, swim, paddle, and stand. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, climb, balance, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to lift, push, and/or pull persons or equipment over 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
