Job description

The Columbia Basin Herald has an immediate opening for a Circulation District Manager (DM). The DM is directly responsible for growing print and digital subscriptions through retention of existing subscribers, acquiring new subscribers and growing single copy newspaper sales in all towns within Grant County and the town of Othello.

Major daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ensuring prompt, accurate delivery of the daily newspaper, immediate resolution of complaints., direct organization of independent contractors, responsibilities include: recruitment, orientation, training, contract execution and carrier pay. Ensure all records are up to date and accurate in the delivery system. Coordinates all circulation system day end, draws, postal reports, head sheets etc. as well as weekly and monthly reporting (stops, starts, truck log, returns etc.). Delivery instructions kept up to date and routes are maintained/adjusted to ensure optimum flow.

Skill Set/Requirements: The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate technical and professional skills but be more of a generalist than a specialist or technician. He/she is comfortable using clear and concise written and oral communication, possesses excellent organization and time management skills. He/she is able to multitask and work well under deadline pressure. Goal driven with the ability to adapt to change and to new opportunities, ability to work independently as well as a team and community member, enthusiastic attitude and a deep desire to manage by the numbers and drive sales. Valid driver's license with good driving record and current automobile insurance. Able to bend and lift 25lbs or more (newspaper bundles, racks, tubes, etc.). Full-time 40 hours per week with full benefits: medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave, 401K. Pay depending on experience.
