Laboratory Research Associate - Full Time
Tacoma, WA, Pay $45k-55k/year
Kelly Scientific is seeking an experienced and dedicated Research Associate to perform laboratory and investigative procedures while compiling data and performing proper animal handling procedures in accordance with IACUC compliance.
Responsibilities:
Animal Handling and Maintenance:
- Identify and prepare animals for studies, develop various sampling methods to be used during studies
- Basic care of research animals (health assessments, food, water, cage cleaning, etc.)
- Perform techniques including (but not limited to): blood draws, dosing, and anesthetizing and euthanizing animals
Experiments:
- Carry out cell-based functional assays
- Conduct in vitro bioassay experiments, including enzymatic assays and protein binding assays, to measure efficacy of plant-based compounds
Documentation, Data Compilation, and Analysis:
- Maintain detailed logs of all studies and other work-related activities
- Record and process data according to specified protocols, write brief reports in weekly and monthly reporting format
- Assist scientists in writing technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations
Required Qualifications
- Must have rodent handling experience
- Minimum one year of experience in a laboratory, animal care facility, or related settings.
- Considerable knowledge of the care and handling of rodents in a research setting, of the methods and materials used in laboratory research, of the physical, ability to recognize the signs of illness or abnormality in research animals.
- Strong written/oral communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any areas of biology (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with molecular and biochemical lab techniques: aseptic technique, PCR, DNA and RNA extraction, ELISA, protein quantitation, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Skills in dosage calculations and conversions, solution preparations.
- Experience in both pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo techniques.
- May be required to lift heavy supplies and/or equipment.
Salary
- $45k to $55k per year depending on experience and qualifications
