Job description

The FRL Technology Engineering Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs in core technology and delivering them to market at scale. The Technology Engineering Camera Team is looking for Scientists who have extended experience in 3A technology & algorithm development and evaluation in consumer electronics.
- Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making rapid prototyping to help photographic imaging architecture decisions.
- Build in-house photographic imaging AE/AF/AWB solutions from scratch using the latest image processing, computer vision and machine learning technologies.
- Support in-house 3A algorithm design, development and customization for a variety of Facebook AR/VR products, work with product teams to deliver industry-leading 3A experiences.
- Self driven and passionate for photographic imaging.
- Phd in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Imaging Science or related field.
- 2+ years experience in AE, AF or AWB algorithm research and development.
- Subject matter expert demonstrated through publications, patents, and shipped products.
- Experience programming in at least one of the following languages: Python, MATLAB, C/C++.
- Knowledge in all the following areas with detailed experiences (5+) in at least one: Scene Understanding and AE/AF, Auto White Balance and color management, ISP fundamental algorithms development, Machine learning solution development for real time image processing, with low latency and low power consumption.
- Experience with joint hardware-software development and associated rapid prototyping.
- Experience building 3A solution from scratch and transferring into a shipping product, such as iPhone and Pixel Phone.
- Understanding of overall systems interactions in the image pipeline.
