Summary
At Facebook Reality Labs, our goal is to invent the user interface technologies that will drive the next generation of augmented-reality experiences. Our aim is to unleash human potential by erasing the bottlenecks between intent and action. As a Research Intern, you will focus on developing novel interactions and interfaces for augmented reality glasses. Your work would involve developing adaptive interfaces, modeling interaction intent, designing interfaces for system uncertainty disambiguation, and/or personalizing the system based on user actions. Our adaptive interaction research lies at the intersection of cognitive science, machine learning, and human-computer interaction. You will work with world-leading collaborators and mentors in the AR/VR, machine learning, neuroscience, and HCI fields.
Required Skills
- Plan and execute cutting-edge research developing novel interactions and interfaces for intelligent systems.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and designers across disciplines to solve complex problems and evaluate the effectiveness of developed solutions through user evaluations.
- Work with leading academic researchers to produce publishable research that appears in top-tier journals or at leading international conferences in the HCI field.
Minimum Qualification
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in the field of human-computer interaction, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, computer science, or similar.
- 3+ years of experience with scientific programming languages such as Python, R, and/or C++/C#.
- Experience with building and/or deploying machine learning models for user interfaces.
- Proven track record of achieving research results and innovation as demonstrated by minimum 2 first-authored peer-reviewed publications and/or patents.
- Interpersonal skills: cross-group collaboration and cross-culture collaboration.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualification
- Familiarity with AR/VR technologies and literature.
- Experience with Unity game engine.
- Experience with computational interaction and/or developing intelligent interactive systems.
- Experience with haptics interaction research.
- Experience with deep learning, RL, personalization.
- Intent to return to a degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
