Opportunity Overview

TuSimple's Associate Human Resources Business Partner (AHRBP) thought partner for our managers. The AHRBP supports the business with a wide range of operational, generalist HR responsibilities including human resources consultation and direction, compensation management, employee retention and engagement, conflict resolution, employee relations, and performance and exit management.

The AHRBP ensures a smooth flow of services to client departments, managers and employees and assists in identifying and adding value to new and existing services.

Role Responsibilities
Fosters and maintains strong relationships with managers and employees. Supports managers with their day-to-day people needs, and serves as a thought-partner on people strategy elements ranging from headcount planning to engagement plans.
Assesses short-term business needs for client group/departments. Collects and analyzes data, utilizes data to make recommendations. Works with managers to find solutions for business issues, enabling the managers to better lead their business and meet objectives.
Supports and participates in organizational change initiatives. Facilitates and assists with client-specific change initiatives, partnering with leaders, to meet objectives and strengthen their leadership capabilities.
Acts as a coach, providing leadership development to business leaders at all levels, entry level to director and above. Partners managers with creating robust and sophisticated development plans for their employees and themselves.
Provides guidance and assistance to employees and managers on human resource issues including employee relations, conflict resolution, performance and compensation management, harassment investigations, sick leave and return-to-work management, reductions in force, and HR policies and programs.
Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local legislation through efficient administration of company HR policies, procedures, programs and initiatives. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, provides counsel to managers on reducing risk and ensuring compliance. Partners with legal, as necessary.
Partners with managers to identify and resolve performance issues through: coaching, performance improvement, corrective action documentation, and terminations.

Helps design and implement people strategies across the organization and participates in HR project work, such as the development and/or improvement of human resources initiatives.
Contributes to and/or runs specialized committees on topics such as safety, recognition, communication, etc.
Collaborates with other HR communities to communicate, facilitate, and/or present HR programs to client groups.
Partners with other HR communities deliver best-in-class HR services and strategies, providing insight and guidance on client-specific areas.
Actively serves as a mentor to less experienced HR professionals; supports their development through knowledge sharing and partnership.
Travel of up to 10%.
Experience & Skills Required
6 years Human Resources experience, or related field.
Strong analytical skills and ability to utilize data to influence management decisions.
Proven ability to connect business challenges to HR activities and outcomes.
Strong knowledge and understanding of employment legislation at the Federal, State, and Local levels.
Proven ability to conduct employee relations investigations, under guidance.
Proven ability to provide guidance on performance management, corrective action, and documentation best practices.
Proven ability and desire to work as a team, with a results driven approach, a high degree of professionalism, and confidentiality, to meet shared objectives.
Proven ability to manage leaves of absences with strong understanding of applicable legislation and associated policies. Strong understanding of how various laws interact with one another, and their impact on employee rights and company hardship.
Proven ability to own the workers compensation and return-to-work process, partnering with managers identify appropriate accommodations, as necessary.
Ability to influence the actions and opinions of others at all levels of the organization. Able to effectively and respectfully challenge the status quo and drive change.
Proven ability to deal with ambiguity, tight timelines, and multiple priorities, while acting with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
Strong analytical and decision making skills with understanding of business implication of decisions.
Understanding of Change Management principles.
Proven strong relationship management skills, including utilizing partnering, consulting, and leadership skills to build credibility across all levels within the organization.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, Psychology, Communications, or related field preferred.
Experience working with highly technical teams, preferred.
Experience working in a start-up environment, preferred.
Fluency in Mandarin, highly preferred.
