The Custom & Process Analytics (CPA) department is seeking an Associate Scientist to execute development activities for novel analytical methods and strategies in early phase cell therapy pipeline projects. The CPA team is responsible for developing and executing phase-appropriate analytics for early stage cell therapy programs and identifying novel analytical technology platforms that will improve the throughput, turnaround time, and/or resolution of product quality attributes. Individuals in this role will interact cross-functionally with process and analytical development organizations to align analytical strategies and timelines, develop and execute custom analytical needs, and deliver high quality/high-throughput analytics to support early process development. Interaction with junior scientists will including technical wet-lab and analytical training and review of development and routine analytical results.
The Associate Scientist will also independently support custom method development , execution and analytical routine testing in the lab. Successful candidates will have a strong foundation in immunology and a variety of immunological methods. This role is highly collaborative and requires a demonstrated ability to coordinate projects with cross-functional teams and independently design and execute studies to meet project goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently develop polychromatic flow cytometry panels for immediate implementation into pipeline development programs
- Analytical support of ongoing process development studies with developed analytical methods
- Evaluation of novel reagents, technologies, and instrumentation to increase throughput and efficiency of process analytics
- Assist and train users within the department on method execution, data analyses, and proper use of instrumentation
- Transfer of developed flow cytometry method onto established automation system
- Titrate and maintain antibody stocks, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: A Bachelor's with 6 years of experience or Master's with 4 years of experience in a scientific discipline
- Proven ability to work in a high paced team environment, meet deadlines, & prioritize work on multiple projects.
- Strong foundation in immunology and/or cell biology including experience with primary immune cells.
- Demonstrated experience with development and execution of polychromatic (13-plus color) flow cytometry panels
- Thorough and demonstrated understanding of flow cytometry instrumentation and software such as Flow Jo, FACS Diva, and FCS Express
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with rapid delivery of novel analytics in support of pipeline development
- Thorough understanding of immunology and cell-based assays as applied to the cell therapy field
- Experience with functional assays using primary human T-cells
- Assay development (flow cytometry, bead-based multiplexed platforms, ELISA, cell killing assays)
- Experience with cellular cryopreservation protocols
- Experience with migrating established assays to automated liquid handlers
- Successful track record of prioritizing work across multiple projects
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work will be conducted in office and laboratory environments with a mix of natural and LED lighting with low level background noise Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when in the laboratory, including but not limited to lab coats, protective eye gear, and disposable gloves. Work environment may include extended time working in biosafety cabinets and liquid nitrogen storage containers.
