The Department of Immunology has an outstanding opportunity for a BioInformatician (Research Scientist 4).

This individual will collaborate closely with bench scientists doing basic and translational immunology studies to understand how the immune system functions in health and disease. This individual should be interactive as they will be involved in all stages of the research process: project planning, experimental design, data collection, quality assessment, analysis and interpretation. The individual will also be expected to teach bioinformatics workshops to help train graduate students, postdocs and lead investigators. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Create and maintain analysis platforms for additional sequencing and flow cytometry based projects, most of which will be lab-specific. Must have experience with some or all of the following single cell technologies: single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell epigenomics FACS, CyTOF.
* Data Analysis and Visualization responsibilities may include:
* Analyze bulk and single-cell omics data (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq & CITE-seq), flow cytometry data and proteomics data
* Perform pathway analysis on potential biomarkers and work with immunology labs to understand their roles in disease mechanism
* Fluency in R and Python/Perl, machine learning approaches and applications
* Interact with individual labs and, together with the relevant member(s) of each lab, determine analysis needs for each sequencing project. One goal will be to empower each lab to perform their "routine" analyses themselves, while providing guidance, support, and insights. Interface with other members of the immunology community as needed to support each project, including the flow cytometry facility and additional labs.
* Provide quarterly training modules to lab members to teach them how to best design and perform experiments and analyze data across a variety of experimental platforms.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
* Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative high paced environment.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
