The Business Analyst Sr is a key member of the Nordstrom Product Management team, leveraging deep domain knowledge and analysis skills to drive product evolution through data analysis, issue triage, root cause analysis, requirement definition, user acceptance testing, and feature delivery support. The Analyst is responsible for ensuring that we deeply understand our current system/process ecosystem and are able to apply this knowledge to net new feature development to ensure that we build the right features for our customers within the context of the larger system/process landscape. The Analyst is always curious, understands how process and technology changes fit into the company strategy and applies this knowledge to deliver business value through feature delivery and product support.

A day in the life...

Solid practitioner of the following competencies, requiring some day to day management support:

  • Develop functional expertise within domain
  • Own and drive large, complex analysis efforts for initiatives across Nordstrom
  • Own analysis planning for all analysis efforts of a program or initiative throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Independently identify and resolve potential issues across multiple systems using root cause analysis; leveraging data, past experiences, and knowledge of system functionality
  • Communicate confidently and skillfully across broad and diverse audiences, organizational levels, and situations
  • Leverage an array of analysis techniques to drive requirement elicitation, documentation, and stakeholder signoff
  • Support user acceptance testing efforts for large functional deployments in collaboration with Engineering and Business stakeholders
  • Mentor other analysts; providing guidance, coaching and quality control as needed


You own this if you have...
  • Minimum 5+ years' business or systems analysis experience
  • Bachelors' degree in math, statistics, finance, economics, or related quantitative discipline is preferred
  • Experience in Retail Planning, Inventory Optimization, or Retail Inventory Management is preferred
  • Data Querying, Analysis, and Visualization skill is preferred
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
