GameStop's Merchandising Analytics team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to perform complex analyses and generate insights to help make and inform important decisions that impact our customers and business. The scope of the Merchandising Analytics team spans GameStop's core business areas, including Power Up Rewards (our membership program), GameStop stores, GameStop.com, sales of new and pre-owned items, the trade-in business model, and more. The team aims to improve the customer experience by identifying and evaluating how we can improve the selection we offer to them, their membership experience and value, and their experience online and in stores. We aim to sustainably grow the business by analyzing and identifying opportunities to improve the underlying economics of our programs and offerings and measuring the effectiveness of our marketing and customer outreach campaigns. We achieve these goals by performing experiments and tests, leveraging simple and complex statistical analyses to generate causal inferences, using internal and external data to identify the drivers of customer engagement, building custom and automated reporting, supporting strategic financial and econometric analyses for the GameStop leadership team to better understand the long-term implications of business decisions, and translating data into compelling insights and actions. In this role, you will use your expertise in SQL, Excel, and data structures to dive deep into the data, provide in-depth analyses, and generate meaningful insights and recommendations from the data. You will have the opportunity to apply statistical and Machine Learning techniques in your work. You will collaborate with business leaders to understand their businesses, challenges, and the most important questions or hypotheses that could be answered with data. You will communicate and provide clear and concise visualizations of the data to business partners and help them interpret the data to understand what it means for their business in both the short and long-term.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Dive deep into the data to perform complex analyses on historical and real-time data, creating actionable insights and recommendations.
Establish metrics, reporting and review mechanisms to enable data-driven decision, while setting up automated and scalable mechanisms.
Create robust and easy-to-understand data visualizations to quickly show senior business leaders key problem areas, new opportunities, and emerging trends.
Design and evaluate tests and experiments to measure the impact of business decisions and changes to the customer experience on customer engagement and business performance.
Collaborate with Merchant teams to identify new metrics, build out reporting, and data analyses that will drive insights that lead to customer experience and business improvements.
Present your written analysis and data insights to senior business partners regularly, across the organization.
Translate business questions into hypotheses that can be answered with experiments, tests, the application of statistical methods, and/or data analysis.
Proactively identify business opportunities through your understanding of the data and our customers.
Work with central teams to develop data pipelines to generate data required for analytics and/or the operation of the business.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or equivalent.
3+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, business intelligence or business analytics.
3+ years of experience and expertise working with SQL and or BigQuery. Strong SQL knowledge including but not limited to; complex queries, CTEs, temp tables, stored procedures, cursors.
Expert-level Excel capabilities (e.g., data manipulation, advanced formulas, modeling, summarizing and reporting).
Strong dashboarding and data story-telling experience; proficient with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI.
Ability to work with big data and its query tools, or a proven track record of success with tools across a variety of similar infrastructures.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Ability to work under demanding time constraints and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, finance, business, or equivalent.
5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, business intelligence or business analytics.
Experience working in a retail and/or e-commerce environment.
Experience using Google Analytics and other parts of the Google Cloud Platform.
Proficient in Python and/or /R programming languages.
Proficient in the application and interpretation of statistical concepts, like regression analysis, A/B testing, and causal inference.
Experience partnering directly with business functions and communicating complex analyses to non-technical leaders.
Experience with the application and interpretation of Machine Learning techniques, including regression, classification, propensity score modeling, and/or K-means clustering.
