SUMMARY

The Controller ensures the integrity of accounting information by establishing financial procedures, controls and reporting systems. The role is responsible for the production of periodic financial reports, forecasting, financial modeling and collecting and consolidating information for the annual budget. It entails some understanding of such related fields as business law, statistics, tax, and general management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits
  • Collects and consolidates information for the annual budget.
  • Responsible for financial analysis, modeling and forecasting.
  • Oversees month-end and year-end accounting close processes.
  • Reports on variances from the budget and communicates significant issues to management
  • Summarize current and projected financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, and other statements.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Communicates financial metrics to senior management and other departments.
  • Oversees Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, State and Local Tax Compliance, 409(a) Valuations, bank compliance audits, consolidated audits, intercompany consolidation, international subsidiary audits, and Liability Insurance renewal process.
  • Projects data to show the effects of proposed plans on capital investments, income, cash position, and overall financial condition.
  • Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge with continuing professional education.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential and financial data secure.
  • Creates and maintains financial controls to protect the financial information of the organization.
  • Supports the development and integration of financial systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and Statements of Financial Accounting Standards (SFAS).

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience working in the accounting field, including 3+ years spent in a supervisory role
  • Must have been senior manager/director/controller in company with minimum $80M annual revenue
  • Must have experience with multiple entities/subsidiaries, preferably with an international mix
  • Must have recently worked with an enterprise grade accounting system (SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, Intacct, MS Dynamics, etc.)
  • Experience creating financial statements, general ledger functions and month/year end close process
  • Experience with international subsidiaries and consolidation
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification preferred
