Position Summary: Thedevelopment Director plays an integral role in the future of our organization realization by providing leadership to forge innovative, compelling strategies for funding the ongoing and future needs of the organization. The Development Director is responsible for designing, planning, organizing, and directing all of Seattle Indian Health Board's fundraising strategies and activities. This includes capital campaigns, major gifts program, events, and overall agency development strategy. The Director works closely with the Chief Public Affairs Officer and the Board Planning and Development committee in all development and fundraising strategies and activities.

Job Responsibilities
- Collaborates with CPAO and Board of Directors Planning and Development committee to create, lead and execute fund-raising strategies and maximize opportunities that align with SIHB's mission and Theory of Change
- Develop and implement the fund development plans in accordance with ethical fundraising practices and principles
- Work closely with CPAO, Board of Directors and Leadership teams to cultivate fundraising skills among staff and Board Members
- Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved
- Monitor trends in the community and region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary
- Organize fund development activities and develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fund-raising processes are carried out in a timely manner
- Prepare and submit grant applications as outlined in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization; work with consultants and program staff to prepare proposals and applications as needed
- Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events with donors and potential donors as specified in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization
- Identify and develop corporate, community and individual prospects for the organization's fundraising priorities
- Oversee the creation and administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
- Coordinate in-kind donations and make decisions regarding the issuing of receipts
- Manage fund development budget and develop and gain approval for an annual income and expenditure budget for the fund development program
- Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts, and expenditure related to fundraising and the management of the fund development activities. Monitor expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary
- Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization while partnering and collaborating with internal constituents on fund development initiatives and activities
- Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization
- Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts
- Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization.
- Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards, when assigned
- Work well under pressure, meet multiple and often competing deadlines
- At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, clients, and the community

Background Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5-8 years of progressively responsible fund-raising experience. Proven record of account management and developing corporate partnerships that result in exceeding revenue goals
- Ability to communicate SIHB's mission accurately, effectively, and inspirationally
- Entrepreneurial and results-oriented with ability to anticipate/respond to changing circumstances/priorities
- Familiarity with marketing/sales/change management concepts
- Tech savvy with interest in researching/utilizing non-traditional fundraising methods
- Ability to conceptualize, write and/or design high-quality donor collateral and communications that complement the organization's existing messaging and materials
- Strong interpersonal and customer care skills with ability to communicate successfully through multiple media channels
- Exemplary verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work 'behind-the-scenes' allowing volunteers and donors the spotlight
