This is a temporary position for approximately 1 year.The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to UW HRIS systems and processes in preparation for upcoming UW Enterprise projects. This role will partner with current business analysts and developers to analyze, interpret, and document business and technical requirements for various HRIS systems; provide support for information and data requests; and produce technical outputs described below.RESPONSIBILITIES:Business and Support Analysis-Investigate and analyze current state business processes and HR systemsCritically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts-Understand and document complex business processes, roles, business rules, policies and workflows related to current and future processes-Organize and synthesize information provided by business and systems owners and develop relevant business analysis artifacts, such as requirements, use cases, as-is and future process flows, gap analysis, test cases, etc-Facilitate meetings and/or design sessions to validate, prioritize, and document requirements-Communicate complex processes, problems, and solutions in a simple, compelling and accurate manner-Work effectively in a team environment and effectively learn and apply department methods and approaches-Work independently to manage key components of work-includes defining tasks, managing the work, and being accountable for the deliverables of assigned components-Meet project deadlines to full completion-Present to user groups and key stakeholdersInformation Management & Support-Develop and maintain SSRS reports to support client business needs-Pull, aggregate, and document large datasets for internal and external clientsOther Responsibilities-Serve as liaison between business, technical, and support teams-Serve as liaison with vendor resources, and maintain department standards and consistency-Conduct ad-hoc analysisREQUIREMENTS:-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business or related field and four to five years of experience.-Minimum of 3 years' experience working within the IT industry.-Minimum of 2 years' experience in business analysis and requirements gathering; gap analysis, defining scope, analyzing complex data sets; testing, and developing enterprise-level reports in a production environment.-Proficient using SQL for reporting and data analysis. Minimum of 2 years.-Demonstrated knowledge and work experience with enterprise-wide relational databases, scripting languages, XML, SQL Server, BI reporting tools.-Excellent written/verbal communication skills with an ability to liaise between business owners and technical teams.-Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperate as a member of a team.-Ability to compromise and manage change in a collaborative and positive manner.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.DESIRED:-Self-starter; able to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic environment.-Significant understanding of HR terms, business processes, and reporting.-Expertise with SharePoint (or similar project management tools), Jira, spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications.-Previous experience in a business analyst role.-Previous experience in higher education.-Responsibility to work varied hours as needed to meet project deadlines and to accomplish work assignments upon which others' activities depend.-Experience conducting quality assurance and/or user acceptance testing.-Experience facilitating meetings, constructively addressing input and criticism, and resolving conflicts.As a UW employee, you have a unique opportunity to change lives on our campuses, in our state and around the world.
