My client is part of a national insurance brokerage that is growing rapidly. You will be in an Insurance Accounting Manager role based out of their downtown Seattle office. You will oversee the accounting for 2 agencies with combined revenue of $30MM and you will have 2 direct reports. One location uses AMS360 and the other location uses EPIC.
This is a leadership position responsible for managing the unit accounting operations including, agency and direct bill production and related accounts receivable and producer commission expense, company and vendor payables and other general ledger accounts specifically assigned. You will be responsible for ensuring transactions are processed in a timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. You are also responsible for responding to internal and external customer information requests in a timely and appropriate manner, ensuring customer satisfaction. Other duties include proactive communication and the identification and elimination of non-value added activities that improve the efficiency of the department.

Key responsibilities:
• Supervises, hires, and trains accounting specialists and accounting assistants, ensuring transactions are processed in a timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ensures all non-corporate related accounting entries are completed by the second business day subsequent month end and consolidated financial statements are issued by the fifth business day subsequent month end.
• Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the monthly financial statements, including the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers or account support documents to the general ledger, and the identification and explanation of actual vs. budget revenue or expense fluctuations, and the preparation and accuracy of various financial management related reports.
• Maintains the Agency management system from an accounting perspective.
• Manages accounts receivable and ensures the accounts receivable policy is properly enforced.
• Responsible for proactive communication and the identification and elimination of non-value added activities that improve the efficiency of the department. Responds to internal and external customer information requests in a timely and appropriate manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, priorities, policies, and procedures relating to the accounting department.
• Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to document receipts and expenditures.
• Responsible for maintaining and identifying improvements to improve the overall internal control environment to assist in preventing and detecting errors from occurring, safeguarding the Agency's assets.
• Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
Candidates MUST have an Accounting degree and experience managing a small accounting team. Preference is for candidates who have insurance agency accounting or other related financial services accounting experience. Knowledge of Agency software AMS360 or EPIC is a huge plus.
