WHO is Sound Generations?

We are a comprehensive non-profit organization that serves older adults and people with disabilities in King County. Our mission is to support people on their aging journey through community connections and accessible services.

We are currently seeking a full-time Driver to join the Meals on Wheels (MOW) Program.

WHAT will I do?

The MOW Driver will fill orders and deliver meals and mobile market items to homebound clients in Seattle and bulk meals to Meals on Wheels satellite sites throughout King County. Conduct initial in-home assessments to confirm client eligibility and make referrals to Pathways Information & Assistance and other resources as needed. Collect donations and payments for meals and Mobile Market items as necessary and reconcile monies at the end of route. Maintain assigned delivery van.

Pay Rate: $17.00 - $17.50/Hour

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 Hours.

Responsibilities

  • Fill meal and grocery orders from food storage facility, load transport van, and deliver meals to homebound clients and satellite sites.
  • Meet with clients to collect and/or validate information, verify eligibility for Meals on Wheels service, and make referrals as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and complete client records.
  • Account for daily orders and receipts.
  • As a Mandatory Reporter as defined by state law, immediately report identified concerns such as abuse, neglect, emergent medical issues, etc. to appropriate state or local authority and notify supervisor; comply with other related laws, organization policies, and program procedures.
  • Process meal deliveries from caterer and ensure inventory sheet is updated accordingly. Rotate stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness of organization vehicles. Report all vehicle performance or safety issues to the Program Supervisor.
  • Support Meals on Wheels marketing and fundraising efforts.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 25 years old for insurance purposes.
  • Experience working with the elderly population preferred.
  • Delivery driving experience in Seattle and King County, preferred.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License and an excellent driving record.
  • One (1) year of related work or volunteer experience.
