As a Private Mortgage Banker within the HLC, this person will serve in an expert capacity to provide assistance in serving as a proactive, client-focused, trusted financial partner to clients. The position supports client relationships through the mortgage lending process with direction given from the Commercial and Private Banking Relationship Managers and serves as a trusted business partner by answering client questions promptly and effectively, suggesting expert solutions, and seeking guidance from Relationship Managers when solving difficult problems. Most importantly, represent WTB to real estate companies and potential mortgage clients.
Essential Functions:
- Supports client relationships through the mortgage lending process through referrals made by the Private Banking Relationship Managers (RM)
- Serves as a trusted business partner by answering client questions promptly and effectively, suggesting expert solutions within assigned realm; seeks counsel from Relationship Manager as needed for solving unique or difficult problems
- Manages office work and paper-flows, including fielding inquiries via phone and ensuring adequate follow-up and closure on daily tasks and projects.
- As needed, provides information on all bank services, providing seamless referrals, service and follow-through to clients
- Solves problems in a timely and accurate manner, handling urgent and confidential matters to ensure continued goodwill
- Provides Relationship Manager with prompt, timely and accurate information as needed to support client relationships, as well as the overall goals of the department and bank
- Completes loan application with customer; acts as liaison between customer and HLC. Turns in a completed loan application within 48 hours of receipt.
- Pre-qualifies self-employed borrowers to include preparation of cash flow work sheets and requesting and analyzing financial records and tax returns.
- Represents WTB to real estate companies and potential mortgage customers.
- Reports at least daily to department manager or center manager, or as requested.
- Maintains responsibility for the loan file from application through closing. Holds periodic review sessions with assigned processors.
- Spends predetermined time in office daily to return phone calls and turn in files.
- Establishes good working relationships with the HLC support staff.
- Responsible for meeting negotiated production goals.
- Maintains a regular calling schedule on assigned offices and real estate agents, keeping them up to date on WTB loan programs.
- Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.
- Regular, reliable attendance is required.
Requirements
- Collection of applicable fees from borrowers.
- Knowledge of real estate and mortgage banking industry.
- Knowledge of Truth-in-Lending and compliance with government regulations.
- Knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and construction loan policies and procedures.
- Required to have or obtain a Mortgage Loan Originator registration number through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS)
- Ability to work independently and perform problem solving and decision making under minimal supervision.
- Strong detail orientation with high level of organizational skills and ability to multi-task, managing interruptions with multiple projects.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and handle multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of service to clients in a deadline driven environment under the direction of management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with and work effectively with diverse groups of people, managing conflict and negotiating for results when needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical people.
- Proficient PC and technical skills to navigate Bank software, including the Microsoft Office Suite of products and related applications.
- Ability to work additional hours as required by operational and production work loads.
