Position Summary

Central Co-op's Produce department is at the heart of our desire to provide fresh, healthy food to all, and is the aesthetic centerpiece of our store! The Produce Manager is responsible for overseeing all product and staff operations in this crucial fresh department, as well as collaborating with other department and store leadership to provide an outstanding customer experience for shoppers.

Position Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Produce Manager is to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Produce department. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Tracking sales, managing inventory, and ordering product to ensure freshness, meet customer demand, and uphold product quality standards
  • Delivering and modeling phenomenal customer service at all levels
  • Crafting schedules with attentiveness to the delicate balance between providing exceptional service and maintaining fiscal sustainability
  • Seeking out new farmer partnerships, and developing and maintaining professional relationships with farmers, suppliers, and community partners
  • Training new staff, and nurturing a culture of continuing education for all
  • Understanding category management, and developing and implementing department merchandising plans & displays to drive sales
  • Working closely and collaboratively with other store leadership to uphold and communicate operating standards and procedures

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in retail grocery management and/or supervision, with experience in Produce
  • Exemplary communication, delegation, and oversight skills
  • Demonstrated ability to show nimbleness and adaptiveness in a fast-changing industry
  • A desire to work as part of a collaborative management team, and build strong, positive connections with staff
  • Proficiency at prioritizing and multi-tasking, and thriving on balancing multiple responsibilities
  • Experience with training and mentoring
