Description:
The General Ledger Accountant is an accounting position requiring sound knowledge of accrual principles and generally accepted accounting principles. Under the supervision of the General Ledger Manager, this position will be responsible for accurate and timely input of adjusting journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and other related financial activities for the Snoqualmie Tribe.
. Requirements:- Assist in preparing entries and reconciliations for month end and annual closing
- Maintain supporting documentation for accounting entries to support internal and external audits
- Maintain schedules for fixed assets, long term debt, prepaid, or other balance sheet accounts
- Assist auditors with journal entry examinations
- Assist in preparing reports and financial statements monthly
- Assist in developing and reviewing narratives for recurring financial statements
- Assist in forecasting, coordination, and preparation during the annual budgeting process
- Review transactions monthly, quarterly, and annually to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, and prepare adjusting entries as needed
- Preparing recurring entry templates, simplifying work papers, and other tasks to increase efficiency during the close process
- Researching financial and administrative topics to provide information and/or recommendations that impact the organization
- Prepare ad-hoc reporting as requested
- Other duties as assigned by the General Ledger Manager or Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications
- Possession of a Baccalaureate degree in accounting or business administration - or related field - from an accredited college or university
- One (1) year experience in accrual general ledger accounting preferred
- Any combination of training, education or experience equivalent to the above
- Experience in governmental (GASB) fund accounting is preferred
- Experience organizing and maintaining complex files
- Experience working in a high pressure environment and in meeting tight deadlines
- Ability to process a large volume of transactions
- Ability to comply with department and Tribal policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain accurate records and attention to details
- Knowledge of modern computer accounting systems and software
- Ability to work in a stressful, fast paced environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to prescribed routines and practices
- Ability to complete assigned work efficiently and accurately
- Proficient skills in 10-key, Microsoft Office, and particularly Excel (V-Look ups, Pivots, etc.)
Other Requirements
- Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.
- Must pass background check.
