Job description

Employee will perform all phases in the processing and manufacturing of prescription eyewear. Handle preventative maintenance on machinery and the repair of optical equipment as needed. Further duties to include answering phones, invoicing, data entry, and communication with lab accounts.

Essential job functions for Optical Laboratory Technician:

• Lens pulling, surfacing, and finishing dependent on training in each department.
• Perform preventative Maintenance on optical equipment.
• Maintain safe working conditions in the lab and cleanliness.
• Continually work on improving production techniques in order to eliminate errors and minimize breakage/spoilage.
• Answer phones and inform customers with updates on patient's jobs and give estimated completion date if requested.
• Answer customer optical questions regarding Encore Vision products.
• Complete jobs and tasks in a timely manner and give priority to rush jobs.
• Assist in organizing and filing paperwork, and recording electronic information in lab software.
• Inspect the final product for quality and accuracy.
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude towards all customers and fellow employees.

Abilities required:

• Very good dexterity
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and standing for long periods of time
• Ability to multitask, work quickly, and efficiently
• Able to maintain a safe and orderly work area
• Able to type and have basic computer skills

• Mechanical ability
• Computer/IT Skills
