Job Overview:

The Chief Engineer II is responsible for maintaining the physical structure and equipment of the building in good working order; performing preventative maintenance and emergency, corrective, and routine repairs on electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, plumbing, and HVAC equipment; maintaining effective communication with the Chief Engineer and MCCS management; performing other duties as needed. Supervise all Tradesmen, and Facility Maintenance personnel including Technicians, Electricians, Painters, and Carpenters. Mentor coach and train field staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Within assigned Stores: execute and oversee the processes and procedures related to preventative maintenance and response calls, energy conservation, safety, purchasing, expense management, and training programs.
Acts as point of contact for all facilities work within assigned Stores. This requires directing Facilities personnel as well as contractors.
Participates in the preparation and communication of written individual goals for each direct report annually.
Actively manage, coach, train, mentor and recognize field staff.
Tracks and monitors key progress indicators; eAM productivity statistics, expense results, energy results and customer satisfaction reports.
Monitors purchases of direct reports assuring that current purchasing procedures are followed and that approved vendors and supply partners are used.
Assist District Facility Manager in preparing and submitting capital requests.
Interfaces regularly with Store Management, Operations, Visual, and LP teams.
Participates in the planning process for store requested projects and provides progress reports as needed.
Performs electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and other facility management functions as needed or allowed per collective bargaining agreement.
Must perform work in a safe manner in accordance with safety procedures.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Minimum of two years of related experience.
In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems with EPA certification and license.
Strong knowledge of and experience with electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, and the maintenance of this equipment.
Working knowledge of personnel safety and safety engineering codes.
No specific educational background is necessary.
Practice open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner
Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels
Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs

Physical Demands:

Position may require constant moving, standing for at least two consecutive hours and ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms and climbing ladders.
Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Ability to sit and drive for at least one hour at a time.
