Job description
This Machine Operator position will be responsible for the set up and operation of various highly sophisticated, automatic and semi-automatic, electronically-controlled pieces of equipment involved in a silicon ingot manufacturing process. This will entail following complex, detailed procedures, and completing documentation per specifications on time and without defect.
Operators work **12-hour Shifts** , **6am to 6pm for Day Shift** , or **6pm to 6am for Night Shift** , on a compressed workweek alternating 3-ON/4-OFF and 4-ON/3-OFF weekly schedules which require working every other weekend and will likely entail additional overtime days when needed. Night shift offers additional 15% shift differential pay incentive.
Operators work in an environment requiring use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing in the production area which will include safety glasses, Nitrile gloves, composite toe safety shoes and hair net . Additional required PPE may include cleanroom "bunny" suit, coverall, 2-piece uniform, or smock. Use of earplugs or dust mask is optional. Additional PPE can be required depending on task which may include cotton gloves, cut resistant gloves, heat resistant sleeves, hot mitts, or safety shield

PHYSICAL:

- Must be medically cleared by a doctor to to work in a magnetic field work environment IF any foreign metal objects are embedded in the body and/or IF any use of metallic or electronic medical devices such as metal implants, pacemakers, hearing aids, diabetic pumps, etc.
- Standing, walking and frequent use of stairs for long periods are required
- Must be able to work overtime when required for on-call, vacation, absences, or other mandatory coverages.
- Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects, and potentially walking, standing, in motion while performing these tasks during a 12 hour shift.
- Kneeling, bending and crouching positions and potentially lifting parts and use of hand tools in such positions may be required
- Repetitive motion, grasping, reaching, pushing and pulling
- Ability to work around hazardous and or volatile chemicals.
COGNITIVE:
- Works from product specifications, work procedures or written/verbal instructions given by supervisor to perform production tasks
- Checks and inspects operation against predetermined tolerances.
- Cross trains to become certified in one or more areas and rotates among various process areas
- Review work orders and load material into the appropriate tool sets and load the correct recipes according to customer specifications
- Use a log sheet, control chart, or computer keyboard to input data, track and confirm incoming and outgoing material for each process step
- Complete paper and computerized forms and labels for each tool, as required for delivery of materials and equipment per work orders and schedule requirements
- Use of metrology systems to perform daily calibrations for each process tool and verify all calibration data meets process specifications before releasing tool to production
- Continuously monitor, analyze, and verify that all data and all processes are correct and meet quality specifications before moving material to the next process step
- Understands / follows product specs, Standard Work Procedures (SWP's), Response Flow Charts (RFCs), control charts, and other documentation related to assigned process
- Ability to understand basic maintenance processes of assigned equipment
- Ability to retain process for handling equipment issues through team and maintenance resources
- Must be able to multi task, input and interpret data and analyze facts to determine problems, solutions, course of action, while still keeping quality high
- Strong attention to detail and time management
- Must be able to work well with others as part of a cohesive production team
- Perform tasks to clean equipment and the area to meet clean room and 5S standards for that area
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute percentages and decimals using a calculator
SAFETY:
- Ability to understand & follow all safety regulations
- Basic safety knowledge, including use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) related to the process.
- Ability to fully understand danger points in the process
- Use Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) system to ensure machine is de-energized when required
- Operator may be subjected to hazards including being close to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, scaffolding, heights, underground or low depths, and chemicals. - High heat parts up to 350 degrees, and high voltages (480 volts) per machine
