Human Resource Assistant

The Human Resource Assistant provides administrative support to the Human Resource Department and reports to the Human Resource Manager. Responsibilities include performing a wide variety of routine and skilled duties and providing support to employees and Administration. Other tasks include, but are not limited to, management of documents and forms to ensure accuracy and Compliance and recruiting, hiring, and onboarding tasks. Additional duties include updating and maintaining employee files, both digital and hard copy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
  • Assist applicants and employees to provide support and information when needed
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the human resource files and records
  • Conduct periodic audits of files and records to ensure all required documents are collected and filed according to Compliance Guidelines
  • Provides clerical support to the HR Department
  • Supports and assist other Departments as needed
  • Assist with recruiting, on-boarding and orientation
  • Other duties as assigned by the HR Manager

  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Ability to handle and manage confidential information and documents
  • Proficiency or ability to quickly learn HRIS systems
  • Ability to adapt and redirect to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve and apply "out of the box thinking" for problem resolution
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software
  • Professional and respectful attitude in all interaction with Employees, Applicants, Vendors and Administration

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must reside in the Huntington/Charleston WV area or be within a reasonable driving distance to the Huntington Business office
  • Associate Degree with a minimum of 2 years related experience in Human Resources
  • Functional knowledge in one or more areas of Human Resources
  • Willingness to acquire HR Certifications and Industry Credentials
