Work a job that fits your lifestyle! Enjoy a 12 hour shift on a 2-2-3 straight NIGHT shift schedule with three day weekends every other weekend! With this schedule, you work half the month, which means half the year. Shift schedules provided for the entire year!
ROLE OVERVIEW
Amcor is currently seeking enthusiastic, accountable employees for these Machine Assistant positions! At Amcor, Safety is our number one priority. While working in the Extrusion or Rewind department you will be given an opportunity to develop your skills through our training programs. You start as an Assistant to learn the basics, and you will have various opportunities to cross-train and develop new skill sets for a successful career at Amcor.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO AS A REWIND ASSISTANT:
- Package finished rolls received from operator, verify rolls properly tagged, cover with plastic and place on skid
- Generate necessary paperwork to process finished goods
- Weigh rolls in accordance with individual order instruction and enter onto computer
- Read job jacket and determine number of cores needed, type of pallet to be used, number of rolls per tier, etc.
- Backup to Operator : run rewind machine and roll doctor during breaks, meetings, and other times as needed
- Operate forklift and adhere to established power lift truck rules. Deliver finished products to shipping department. Wrap them and place them in to inventory as directed
- Machine and general plant cleaning/maintenance as needed
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU GET TO DO AS A PRESS ASSISTANT:
- Takes direction from the operator as to expectations.
- Prepares press for run by properly setting up inks.
- Monitors the inks during the run to maintain color. Inks should be monitored every 15 minutes. Verify results of color for the Q.C. requirements.
- Gears printing cylinders.
- Checks film for treat, coating, etc.
- Verify printable side of substrate.
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and parts by washing with solvents.
- Provides ongoing support to press operator as needed. This includes responsibility for meeting all production and quality requirements.
- Washes plates from finished runs.
- Drive and adhere to established power lift truck rules and guidelines.
- Monitors Scan-a-web and cameras throughout run to ensure no quality defects.
- All other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO AS AN EXTRUSION ASSISTANT:
- Assist operators will aid in all aspects of operation of Tuber lines including change-overs, machine start-up, running and shut-down.
- Support operations in becoming World Class in all aspects of the business, beginning with Safety.
- While also knowing and understanding the role in product safety.
- When qualified will operate Tubers when an operator is absent, or on vacation.
- Order and maintain resin boxes to sustain a proper steady supply of resin for Tuber machines Packaging mill rolls Weigh and haul scrap Miscellaneous housekeeping duties
- Comply with all 5S and WCM initiatives (Cross Training, moving to the work)
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MACHINE ASSISTANTS:
- Ability to lift up to 30 - 50 lbs
- Willing and able to stand and walk for 12 hour shift
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
- Frequent use of wrist and hands
- Frequent stepping up and down from platforms

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU:
- Previous manufacturing experience a plus, not required
- Previous experience in extrusion, lamination, coating, and/or rewind a plus, not required
- Knowledgeable and able to understand a computer and programs
- Possess adequate math, measurement, and reading skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills
- Required to have visual acuity to perform visual inspection including the use of measurement devices and ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others in a team environment
