Job Description:

The Content Specialist is responsible for specific aspects of Marshfield Clinic Health System's (MCHS) communications and public relations program with an emphasis on developing content for print and electronic/digital communications for internal and external audiences. The individual will use a broad spectrum of media and will work in a team environment to develop content to communicate messages aligned with the MCHS brand, voice and communication style.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Three years of experience in journalism, communications or health care marketing. Demonstrated proficiency in collaborating with colleagues, managing multiple projects, gathering information/data, producing timely well-written copy and editing. Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Collaborates closely with team members to ensure the focus of Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) messages is consistent across audiences.

2. Researches, writes and edits content actively, under deadline, to appeal to target audiences.

3. Edits self-written, co-worker and client-written content to ensure appropriate format of information prior to review by the managing editor or the Internal Communications Manager and prior to distribution.

4. Manages ongoing communications projects, working directly with the Internal Communications Manager to assure projects are completed in a timely fashion.

5. Serves as managing editor for assigned projects as directed by the Internal Communications Manager to assure appropriate project management, accuracy, appropriateness and to adhere to deadlines.

6. Coordinates and tracks specific project content development and creative needs based on assignment by the Internal Communications Manager, to complete assigned projects and to ensure accountability for assignments and work completed.

7. Tracks routinely-produced communication materials to ensure updates and maintenance are completed.

8. Collaborates with visual and interactive designers to develop content for digital platforms including MCHS websites, social media channels and blogs.

9. Maintains a working knowledge of photography, videography and social media techniques to apply the concepts creating a compelling story telling and increasing visibility of MCHS.

10. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.

11. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
