The Headlines :

In the role of Associate Chemist working in Milwaukee, WI you will be part of the Brewing and Quality team. You will be responsible for multiple routine chemical analyses and instrument maintenance, calibration and trouble shooting. You will also participate in non-routine projects and method development work including data review and interpretation that require basic understanding of statistical methods and ability to utilize Microsoft Office fluently.

This position reports to the Quality Analytical Manager and works closely with the entire operations team at our Milwaukee campus.

The Responsibilities :

  • Plans, designs, executes and/or manages sophisticated chemical analysis programs for Interplant evaluations, Competitor evaluations, International Licensee evaluations, Pilot Brewing support, new product and packaging innovation, process and product improvement, brewery non-conforming product and consumer complaints.
  • Provides chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process and packaged beer products, flavored malt beverages and their ingredients, ciders and sodas; and interpretation of results.
  • Develops and implements sophisticated test methods for accurately measuring chemical properties of ingredients and malt beverages at the corporate and brewery level.
  • Performs high level analytical techniques and instrumental analyses such as gas chromatography (GC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC-MS), spectroscopy (infrared and ultraviolet), inductively coupled plasma analysis (ICP), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), etc.
  • Applies method, instrument and data systems expertise to resolve problems.
  • Collaborates with Corporate Quality, Corporate Brewing, Technical Innovation and Development, , and Packaging Innovation and Development, providing technical expertise to support Quality and Brewing issues, process and product improvements and new product and package innovation.
  • Position assures product consistency across 11 Molson Coors Beverage Company breweries, two Leinenkugel breweries, Miller Valley Brewery, numerous craft brewing partners and International Licensee breweries.


The Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a science related field of study preferred plus a minimum of 2 years of lab experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of chemistry as they apply to Brewing and Flavored Malt Beverages.
  • Thorough knowledge of laboratory equipment, laboratory automation and data management.
  • Knowledge of ASBC and EBC analytical chemistry test methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of analytical methods development, testing, troubleshooting and adaptation.
  • Ability to plan and conduct analytical methods.
  • Ability to use statistical tools to evaluate and interpret data to ensure accuracy of results
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement projects.
  • Ability to evaluate basic lab equipment and make recommendation for future development and purchases.
  • Good oral and written communication skills for preparation of Molson Coors Test Methods, concise reports, and for presentations.
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Committed to customer service and team work.
  • Good organizational, time management and planning skills to successfully manage routine and non-routine projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a dynamic environment.
