Job description

Job Summary:
Under the direction of one or more DeltaHawk Engineers, the Mechanical Engineering Intern will assist in the development of new engine platforms and test assets, as well as the sustainment of existing models. This individual will be assigned several short term projects to gain experience in the different specializations and aspects of engineering in a production environment.

  • Assist with the design and development of engineered products consistent with defined requirements
  • Select appropriate materials and processes considering performance, longevity, reliability, and cost.
  • Proactively communicate with engineers, drafters, suppliers, and fabricators to procure prototype designs for testing
  • Develop and create test standards and protocols; analyze test results and communicate outcomes
  • Comprehend external design and implementation constraints placed by FAA regulations
  • Perform computational analysis (FEA, CFD, etc) to validate designs
Qualifications
Required:
  • Enrollment in a BS, Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent from a four-year University, completion of sophomore year
  • Passion for aviation
Preferred:
  • Enrollment in a BS, Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent from a four-year University, completion of junior year
  • Proficient with Solidworks or other 3D CAD modeling software
  • FEA, CFD, fatigue, durability, and engine performance simulation and optimization experience
  • GD&T Experience
  • R&D Experience
  • Pilot
Working Conditions
This position is a professional engineering position, yet combined with occasional "hands-on", assisting technicians working through challenged on the engine(s).
