Take ownership for leading complex projects

As a Function Development Engineer, you are working in a multi-disciplinary project team within our product development department and will work closely with the respective project managers. You are responsible for the model-based development of algorithmic and mechatronic systems, functions, and software modules. Your field of responsibility covers the entire life cycle of a function from requirement specification, architecture design, simulation, implementation, verification & validation, and documentation.

As a Function Development Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Development of functions for data acquisition and digital signal processing.
  • Design, modelling, and simulation of mechatronic systems & controls.
  • Design of systems- and software architecture.
  • Process optimization and automation.
  • Testing of functions and systems.
  • Specification of requirements.
  • Documentation and change management processes for new product development.


To be successful in this role you need:
  • Above-average university degree (master or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar (University, TU).
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following fields:
    • Digital signal processing,
    • Measurement and control systems,
    • Communication systems engineering,
  • Experience in modelling and simulation.
  • Skilled with Matlab / Simulink.
  • Programming Skills e.g. C, C++, Python.
  • Independent, proactive, self-motivated, and able to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Good written and verbal English skills due to an international work environment, and strong interest in working with other cultures.


Ideally, you would also bring the following preferred qualifications / requirements:
  • Practical experience in the above-mentioned area of expertise and in development of algorithms and functions gathered during internships, thesis and/or professional experience.
  • Experience with state space controls, observers, and Kalman filters
  • Experience in system- and software design and testing.
  • Knowledge in the field of test systems, -methods and -tools.
  • Experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning.
  • Knowledge in development processes and standards (software development process, V-model, ISO26262 etc.).
  • Experience with automatic code generation.
  • Ability to develop within a technical mentoring environment as well as to work independently.
