Job description

Our client is looking for a Warehouse / Yard Operative for a 3 month contract position, located in Peterhead.

RESPONSIBILITIES

On a daily basis shall interface with the Supply Base personnel in support of their objectives and deliverables. As a first principal, it is a given, that the Operative shall ensure that health and safety regulations are complied with at all times. They will receive the appropriate training and familiarisation for this role, ensuring that the Base operating processes, HSE and Training and Company Policy are adhered to at all times.

Much of the role is unsupervised and requires self-motivation and commitment. There will be a need to share ideas and develop work improvement practices and priorities with the team.

Provides single focal point to meet the expectation and deliverables set out below

  • Principal duty: To perform the physical duties involved in the receipt, storage, preservation and shipment of materials whilst maintaining accurate stock records and documentation.
  • Loading and unloading of trucks in yard and operating forklift truck.
  • Processing receipts and reporting overages, shortages or damages.
  • Maintaining of database and accurate recording of stock movements.
  • Complying with and promoting relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with loading and sea fastening of containers.
  • General housekeeping and maintenance of yard whilst ensuring that the area is kept safe and tidy at all times.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the necessary technical skills, administrative experience and competence to add value to the work of the Company, Team to ensure timely delivery of services to internal customers

  • Works well with people, good communication skills
  • Have good organisation, and technical skills relevant to the role with the ability to problem solve, multitask, acute attention to detail and deliver work to a high standard to tight deadlines
  • Ability to support the work of team members
  • Willingness to learn and advance education through attending training workshops and meetings
  • Ability to work unsupervised, deal with colleagues' feedback effectively and accurately, and be flexible and adaptable.
  • The applicant must have the ability to achieve and deliver to deadlines in a fast changing environment.

Essential Education Qualifications, Attainments and Experience

  • Good general level of education
  • Counter Balance Forklift
  • Reach Truck Forklift
  • Knowledge of SAP is advantageous however on-site training will form part of the role
