Victim Support is looking for a Suicide Liaison Worker based in Berkshire. This role is part-time and home based with regular travel across the region.Victim Support are recruiting a Suicide Liaison Worker to work within our highly regarded Berkshire service. The service provides high quality emotional and practical support to those who are bereaved by suicide, both in the immediate aftermath but also in the weeks and months that follow, should it be needed. Bereavement by suicide can be a particularly severe and traumatic experience and the grieving process is often more complex and longer than for other types of bereavement. Each individual responds differently but families and close friends of the person lost to suicide are more likely to suffer physical and mental ill health for a long period of time after the death. This service will play an important role in helping those bereaved by suicide by providing a range of interventions that are flexible to the needs of the person.The nature of this role requires the post holder to demonstrate great sensitivity, compassion and understanding but also be proactive and person centered in their approach. They will also need to demonstrate resilience and the resolve needed to work with those in very difficult circumstances. They will be familiar with models of grief, will have experience of working with service users with complex needs and know how to build effective partnerships. The service operates in a flexible way across the Berkshire area so it is vital that, since much of the support will be delivered face to face, the post holder has the ability to drive and have access to a vehicle.Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity providing a range of specialist services to people who have been affected by crime across England and Wales.
