What you will be doing
Working within Engineering Improvement, this role is key to enabling an Intelligent Client model by ensuring that Thames Water has the right technical competency across the business.

In support of the drive to grow and develop the engineering workforce, the role is a focal point for engineering technical competency frameworks and will develop a deep understanding of competencies; ensuring they meet the need of the business and are understood and embraced.

The Technical Competency Governance Coordinator will be central to the creation of the technical heartbeat within Thames Water and will have a supporting role across the company in upskilling our technical workforce. The role will also be involved in innovative engineering projects and the key responsibilities include:
  • Engineering Lead for the development, implementation, and governance of technical competency frameworks
  • Provide technical leadership for the coordination of Civil, Mechanical, Process, Environmental, Project Management, Electrical, ICA, and Asset engineering competencies
  • Drive the technical competency framework adoption across the business
  • Provide project management support to engineering innovations
  • Support wider engineering Improvement activities
We're looking for you to:
  • Build relationships and networks quickly and effectively, you'll be collaborative in nature and thrive on teamwork
  • Broad background in engineering with knowledge/exposure to a range of disciplines including an understanding of competence requirements
  • Lead by example and be committed to personal and professional development, possessing a sound understanding of professional registration in an engineering context
  • Adept at assimilating information and extracting key deductions, you make clear evidence-based decisions and recommendations
  • Have excellent communication skills to converse widely and convincingly
  • Have a degree or equivalent in a STEM subject, ideally having achieved CEng status
