Works Technician - Process Optimiser

£26,917- £33,034 - dependent on experience + use of company van + standby allowance

Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week

Water Recycling is at the heart of our operations. The key services that we are responsible for are delivered by our in-house, highly skilled workforce. We collect and treat the water that customers have used, returning it to the environment via rivers and coastal outlets. Our network includes 76,000 kilometres of sewers which feed over 1,000 water recycling centres. What you will be doing?

Reporting to the Treatment Manager, the Process Optimiser has a responsibility to ensure Water Recycling treatment processes and systems run as effectively and efficiently as possible and to identify and implement improvements. This role should ensure that the Treatment Manager has more time to spend on the active management of the Works Technicians. The work is varied, at times challenging, and it is unlikely that any two days will be the same.

You will assist in the day to day running of site, deal with resource requirements and liaise with contractors. You will have a significant input to Health and Safety and should act as the "eyes and ears" of the Treatment Manager.

The role requires prompt action in response to reactive work and a significant input into planned activities.

Duties will include:

Coaching and supporting Work Technicians'

Ensuring asset care activities are carried out to required standards

Investigate and resolution of WRC process problems

Optimisation of WRC processes (including sludge treatment centres), using available tools (e.g. telemetry, sample data)

Involvement with optimisation audits for energy, chemical usage etc

Involvement with major and minor capital solutions to achieve and maintain compliance

Involvement in capital schemes to ensure optimisation of future opex

What does it take to be a Works Technician Process Optimiser?

License to operation qualification

Experience within an operational role in either Water Recycling or Sewage Treatment

Strong communicator when representing the Treatment Manager at meetings and for customer liaison

Able to work as a team but also able to demonstrate that you can use your own initiative to solve problems, prioritise your work and work autonomously

Full driving license is essential for this role
