We have an exciting opportunity at Totally Local Company to join our established team as a MOT Technician. Within this role you will work as part of the fleet team and will be responsible for carrying out MOT inspections in accordance with DVSA, company guidelines and procedures, vehicle inspections, mechanical repair, and servicing of a wide range of fleet and customer vehicles to a high standard.

Working in a team of highly skilled vehicle technicians, carrying out inspection and repairs to a high standard in line with our customer journey and portraying a professional image.
What you will be doing in this role
You'll ensure that all requirements with respect to the health, safety and welfare of staff within the post holder's responsibility are properly met. This duty extends to such other persons, e.g. contractors and members of the public, who may be affected by the activities within the post holder's remit. The post holder also has a general responsibility to contribute to the effective management of health, safety and welfare across the Company as a whole.
Your main role is to carry out MOT and Taxi compliance testing including QC, on all vehicles presented at our Mot station, including private and light commercial vehicles.
You'll carry out scheduled maintenance and defect repairs on Companies fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment to include light and heavy vehicles.
You'll have and maintain a good working knowledge of fleet including electronic/hydraulic/pneumatic repairs and diagnostic procedures, minor body repairs and welding techniques.
You'll prepare and submit (subject to licence) HGV vehicles to DVSA approved test facility for annual MOT testing
You'll carry out diagnostic repairs using computer based diagnostic systems.
You'll operate mobile response breakdown service to attend offsite breakdowns and effect necessary repairs
You'll maintain computer and written records of all jobs from start to finish to include repairs carried out, parts used, start and finish time, total hours taken, time VOR etc
You'll maintain written records of all work against individual vehicles/plant in accordance with DVSA regulations, manufacture standards and company requirements.
You'll provide technical support concerning, vehicle repairs, vehicle related issues, maintenance progress reports, sub-contract repairs, etc. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of municipal vehicles, plant and other equipment, including changes and updates, having regards to maintenance requirements and compliance with appropriate legislation.
You'll work in a 'flexible' manner to meet the needs of the business.
You'll undertake/monitor VMS audits including walk round-around checks, housekeeping, fire safety, risk assessments, safe systems of work, vehicle checks, task talks, gate house checks, COSHH assessments, etc, in conjunction with other fleet team members.
What we are looking for
You will be an approved MOT Tester with DVSA and hold a full licence
You'll have an NVQ in Motor Vehicle Technology, a City & Guilds part 3 or equivalent
You'll have 4 years experienced in vehicle mechanical repairs and servicing
You'll have a full valid Driving Licence
You'll have excellent customer service.
You'll have experience in a professional workshop environment.
You'll have the ability to work as part of a busy team in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
You'll have willingness to constantly learn and improve your knowledge.
You'll be able to act on your own initiative and take responsibility for the quality of your work.
