Business Support Manager - Ellesmere Port, Cheshire

We currently have an opportunity for a Business Support Manager for the North West. Reporting to the Head of Estimating and Proposals, as Business Support Manager you will lead all aspects of major and complex tender opportunities in order to maximise win rate. You will have the knowledge to provide strategic advice, coaching and constructive challenge to subject matter experts & our estimating and proposals team on individual strategic bids.
Implementing bid best practice and winning behaviours, you will work with our wider business teams to ensure correct level of focus/support is provided to strategic bids and escalating any issues that will impact success. You will ensure strategic & complex bids are managed and delivered effectively and efficiently.

About the Role:

  • Supporting the Head of Estimating and Proposals with regards to managing large, complex and strategic opportunities
  • Support the analysis, development and implementation of strategic bid plans for key strategic targets
  • Translate business requirements, solution capabilities and provide value add into an overarching strategic bid plan that includes compelling value proposition and client success criteria
  • Bring the client perspective and ensure strategy will engage the client and our proposition is compelling not just compliant
  • Serve as a client facing escalation point of contact for the business, providing strategic guidance, resolve issues and provide clarity on clarification matters and remove roadblocks in the winning work process
  • There will be a requirement to identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business achieve growth targets.
  • To undertake lessons learned reviews of client feedback to improve future bid content
  • To work within a number of market sectors which include but not limited to Oil & Gas, Power, Nuclear, Offshore, Process, Chemicals, Food etc in collaboration with the Head of Estimating and Proposals, Director of Business Development & Strategy, Business Unit Directors, operations and the wider bid team.


About You:
  • Experience of strategic & complex bid management or a strong business development background - we are particularly keen to hear from you if you have a background within an industrial market sector
  • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture in order to develop and improve winning work results
  • A clear, confident, articulate communicator - both verbally and written, who has the natural ability to interact with individuals at all levels, fostering and developing relationships with our clients.
  • A highly-organised individual - it goes without saying that you will possess exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibly to achieve deadlines
  • A high-level of ICT literacy, particularly in MS Word and PowerPoint
