Working Environment

We are looking for a proactive Payroll Manager to lead the Payroll team to ensure that the payroll department runs smoothly, efficiently and accurately. You will have primary accountability to manage and control UK payrolls for the Elior and all associated compliance and reporting. Review, implement and manage best practice controls to ensure colleagues are paid accurately each month and on time.

Job Description

Your key responsibilities as the Payroll Manager will consist of:

- Manage a payroll team to process end to end, high volume and complex payrolls

- Ultimately accountable for overseeing the delivery of the company payroll for around 8,000 colleagues (approx. £165 million)
- Ensure payroll deadlines are met in a timely manner
- Deal with escalated payroll queries from the team
- Ensure an outstanding service is provided to internal stakeholders where queries are dealt with in an efficient and warm, friendly & genuine manner
- Produce payroll reports to senior management on a regular basis or as/when requested
- Oversee process improvements and project work, which can often include high-profile, large & complex projects that carry significant financial implications or investment
- Act as a key project leader in the transition to a new HR/Payroll system for the UK business. Support its implementation and the embedding of new processes
- Proactively plan and execute the year-end and project workload against competing priorities
- Champion and coach the team on employment and prevailing legislation, identify the impact of changes on payroll and manage changes to eliminate the risk of non-compliance
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Oversee the hire and training of new payroll team members
- Audit the payroll to make sure it satisfies all government regulations
- Work collaboratively with wider HR team to manage any operational payroll activity
- Coach & develop Payroll team to ensure the consistent delivery of process, compliance & high-quality service across the business
- Drive continuous improvement & innovation within the Payroll function, challenging the status quo & ensuring we evolve to become industry-leading in our approach to payroll

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week

Skills and Experience

The experience and knowledge we are looking for from our future Payroll Manager include:

- Proven payroll leadership experience ideally gained in a high volume, multiple payroll environment

- A strong people manager with a natural desire to motivate the team to achieve individual and team objectives

- Proven track record of driving procedural improvements, strategy, and best practice

- Ideally have knowledge of Reourcelink, Cognos and/or SAP Success Factors

- Knowledge of current tax/payroll legislation

- Be experienced in the delivery of a high-quality payroll service

- Previous experience preferred in managing a transition to a new payroll / HR system in a complex, de-centralised business

- The ability to adapt your style to engage with your audience, setting the bar high with excellent customer service

- Excellent communicator with the ability to solve problems, communicate with & influence stakeholders at all levels

- Proven ability to work with complex/detailed information with an excellent eye for detail

- Highly organised with excellent, demonstrable Microsoft Office & project management skills

- A team player with a flexible approach to work and job variety

- Warm, friendly and genuine

As part of your package, we are offering a salary of up to £52,000 per annum, plus a performance-related bonus.
