Job description
*Senior Support Worker - Dementia Care + £500 Welcome Bonus *

As a Senior Support Worker at Richmond Willaston, you'll help our residents to truly get the most out of life whilst living with onset dementia and in return we'll support you to get the most out of your career. Richmond Willaston is inspired by the Dutch model of dementia care and will consist of 6 households, each with 6 residents - supported by a team of Support Workers. Every household will be equipped with a kitchen, laundry facilities and garden space encouraging a more independent and social lifestyle. The village will also have a 35-bed care home for those living with more advanced dementia. We're currently looking for experienced Support Workers to join us, to help our residents live life to the full.
*Working hours and salary*
£11.00ph (Nov, Dec, Jan)
Usual rate after Jan - £10.50ph
We want to say a big thank you to our frontline colleagues for their fantastic support and commitment and we're going to do this by paying an extra 50p per hour throughout November, December and January, new starters included.
Day and Night shift opportunities
Full Time 37.5 hrs (5 shifts of 7.5 hrs over 7 day week) or Part time - flexible 3 or 4 shifts per week
Day Shifts: 06:45 - 14:45 / 13:45 - 21:15
Night Shift: 10hrs
Should you be successfully hired in to this role, we are pleased to be able to offer you a one-off Starter Bonus of £500 as a thank you for deciding to join Bupa Care Services. The Starter Bonus will be paid to you in the next available pay run once you have completed four weeks' service and will be subject to deductions for tax and NI. Ts &Cs Apply.
*What your typical day involves*
* Assisting the Residential Lead with operational activities such as induction of new staff, training and auditing care plans and practises within the village
* Administering medication in line with the Bupa medication policy - ensuring accurate records are maintained.
* Working with other external professionals such as GPs, Chiropodists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists
* Supporting residents to undertake daily tasks such as bed making and cleaning
* Assisting residents with personal care duties such as bathing, showering and dressing
* Helping to promote mental and physical activity of residents through participation in recreational or social activities
* Keeping accurate records - maintaining full documentation at all times to show care given, activities and any changes to their health
*Who we're looking for*
You have experience of working in a care or dementia setting with or working towards a Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, but above all, you'll be passionate for caring for others, respecting people's choices and always putting their safety and welfare first. A great listener with a positive outlook, you're confident talking to both residents and their families and understand that confidentiality is very important in what we do. Always ready to lead by example and support the wider team, you'll deliver care with dignity and compassion and work to put a smile on our residents' faces every day.
