Job description

3 x Senior Accountant - Costbase with experience is required to work on a twelve month contract, with the possibility of extension for our Naval Client based in Barrow, Cumbria, although working from home during covid.

Responsibilities for the Senior Accountant - Costbase contract role

Financial Support to the Business ensuring sufficient understanding of financial issues to facilitate achievement of financial targets.

Activities to include:

• Cost control and governance in each business area.
• Liaison with budget holders on all cost base related activities ensuring costs are Controlled in line with budget levels.
• Cost base reporting input into MMR.
• Production of monthly cost forecasts.
• Tax pack production for own areas.
• Work with functions to ensure consistent approach to resource requirements (brp and supply side).
• Foundation contract support to deliverables where necessary.
• Support the production of capital finance applications.
• Management of junior members of team.

Other activities

• Specific financial support to the overall Enterprise affordability initiative programmes.
• Work with MOD and CAAS counterparts to provide information as required.
• Ensuring adherence to business financial controls and governance process.
• Ensure compliance with Finance processes across the Business.
• Ensure costs are accurately reported in accordance with Finance Policies Manual.
• Supporting the Senior Accountant when necessary.
• Deputise for Senior Accountant.

Key skills required for the Senior Accountant - Costbase contract role

• Accounting and financial management experience, working in a variety of roles including working within project and manufacturing environments
• Business and financial modelling experience
• Good working knowledge of all key financial processes statements
• Good working knowledge of MOD's policies and procedures
• Recognised accounting qualification (ACMA, CMA, ACCA)

The role is based in Barrow, Cumbria although working from home during covid.
