£10 per hour plus £500 Welcome Bonus and pay enhancements for short notice shifts
Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Flaxpits House is a residential home for younger people with learning disabilities and associated complex needs. We support 10 individuals to live independent and fulfilling lives. Where appropriate, we also support people to move on to supported living and independent living services.
We are located in the village Winterbourne (just north of Bristol) with easy access to the M32 and Avon Ring Road (A4174).
As a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
• To encourage positive self-image and maintain health and wellbeing.
• Assisting with decision-making and promoting independence.
• Support people to develop and maintain contact with family and friends.
• Provide emotional support.
• Perform house-keeping and administrative duties, as required.
As part of the night staff team, you will assist with personal care and support those with mobility issues, using safe and approved moving and handling techniques. Full training will be provided in order to ensure the comfort of those we support and the confidence of our staff. Additionally, you will be expected to carry out housekeeping duties, when required.
The successful Support Worker will:
• Have excellent communication skills.
• Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature.
• Experience within the sector is not essential as we will provide you with training required to carry out your duties.
• Be able to support people with their personal hygiene needs and have some understanding of non-verbal communication.
• Hold a full, valid UK Drivers License
