Overview / Responsibilities

Wood are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Planner to lead Wood's transport decarbonisation offer across our Sustainable Infrastructure business. The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of transport decarbonisation technologies and options available to government clients.

You will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport projects across the UK and overseas, and will be responsible for the delivery of business development and work winning activities. You will have an accomplished technical background with the role providing quality assurance and guidance to junior members of staff.

The workload is extremely varied covering all aspects of mobility and multi-modal studies including highways, cycling, walking and public transport.

The role can be based in anyone of the following offices; London, Reading, Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Leamington Spa, Newcastle, Knutsford, Bristol or Leeds.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Transport planning, Engineering, Economics or related degree. Relevant postgraduate qualifications highly desirable
  • Relevant experience and understanding of low carbon transport technologies
  • Already possess extensive relationships with UK clients and e-mobility technology providers
  • Experience within a consultancy environment is a distinct advantage and Local Authority /Central Government experience is required
  • Experience of delivering smart-mobility projects
  • Experience in Economic Feasibility Analysis and project financing will be an added advantage
  • Experience in creating Bespoke Financial Models (Spreadsheet based)
  • Good knowledge of hydrogen technology
  • Knowledge or experience of international projects funded through agencies such as the World Bank, EBRD and Asian Development Bank would be advantageous
  • Track record of leading complex technical projects with high quality and client satisfaction
  • Knowledge of key industry clients and stakeholders and proven ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience in leading the preparation of bids and proposals
