Job Description
Data Engineer - BankingResponsible for expanding and optimising the London Branch data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross functional teams. This includes implementing improvements to existing processes and automating those that are manual in nature.Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
  • Perform and run daily data download, aggregation and reporting tasks
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements; automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Conduct complex data analysis, reconciliations and reports
  • Combine raw information from different sources
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition
  • Documentation, storage and maintenance of all code in line with Group and London team standards
  • Participate in specific platform enablement projects from time to time, to conduct testing, regression, reconciliation, migration and other data and reporting validation exercises.
Key Risk Management Responsibilities:

Identify, document and promptly escalate existing, potential and emerging risks to the Chief Risk Office or Compliance, as appropriate to the concern, to enable timely management of such risks. Ensure solution design adheres to BCBS239 principles

The Successful Applicant
Data Engineer - BankingEssential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years' experience in designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems in a financial services environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of database and other programming languages: Object-orientated programming in C# (essential) & extensive experience with SQL
A detailed knowledge of the following:
  • Advanced Excel and database modelling/programming skills
  • Exposure to financial modelling, financial products or banking
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of, or exposure to, Murex or similar trading system
  • Knowledge of, or exposure to, Bank of England taxonomies
  • Business Intelligence solutions such as OBIEE or PowerBI
