About Schroders

We're a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. We offer flexible working appropriate for a client solutions focussed role.

The team

The Economics team is responsible for producing and communicating the house view of the world economy. The team's output is used by all areas of Schroders, but particularly with the Multi-Asset department where macro analysis plays an integral role in the asset allocation process. In addition, members of the team are regular contributors to Schroders client conferences, podcasts and webinars.

The team is also responsible for writing high quality analysis and thought pieces that are published globally and presenting these internally, with external clients and at conferences.

What you'll do

• Analyse key economic issues to help formulate the house view of the world economy.
• Carry out in depth research to address longer run trends as they relate to economies and markets.
• Communicate views through regular meetings with investors and analysts, written reports, podcasts and webinars. Contribute to our thought leadership programme.
• Build working relationship with the Multi-Asset team and others to provide further granularity of views when required.
• Respond to ad-hoc requests from clients and work closely with the economics team.
• Has potential to present to clients.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

• Strong understanding of economics and ideally working as an economist in public or private sector with previous experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to explain relatively complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to others both within the organisation and externally.
• Team player in a collegiate environment, ability to build effective relationships with internal teams
• Proactive when considering client and investors needs
• Strong workload planning
• Ability to access data and carry out quantitative analysis
• Educational requirement: Post graduate qualification in economics or above
