Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO
BCG is looking for a lead Enterprise Architect to help pioneer the ongoing modernisation of the applications and products used by BCG across the globe.

The heart of this role is to help define and inspire the modernisation of our application estate, adopt modern application design principles, and nurture investments to become real products, solutions, and release their intended value.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

  • Energising our businesses to see the possibilities for efficiency, effectiveness and new business models using technology across a subset of our businesses. You will define the future state application and product landscape for defined areas of BCG and how we will get there.
  • Finding great answers to complex and ambiguous questions, and, connecting and collaborating across teams to develop solutions. You will seek diverse views, and with a growth mindset considering both conventional and unconventional answers.
  • Rolling up your sleeves and "doing", pioneering the way forward and bring others along with you. You produce high-quality Enterprise Architecture arguments and supporting materials. You are adept at agreeing these at different levels in the organisation.
  • Influencing and collaborating with others, especially business leaders, solution architects and technical leaders working within your domain area.
  • Applying modern methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, Lean, Design/Product thinking and UI/UX to your work and encouraging others to adopt and use these methods.
  • You will be enthused by technology. Knowledgeable and conversant with modern computing paradigms and always curious and driven to learn more and applying this to your work.
  • You will have mastery in modern application architecture and digital thinking including domain driven design, APIs, microservices, and component level application design on cloud.
  • Optimising your own role and delivering results. You understand that architecture is part of a value stream where we need to play our part in being efficient to help increase velocity and reduce risk across the architecture team and the teams we work with.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • 7+ years of managing the enterprise architecture of a significant applications estate. This includes managing the value, opportunities, inventory, roadmaps, rationalisation, and total cost.
  • Your experience will include multiple successful examples of:
    • planning an application portfolio in various dimensions of requirements, technology, cost, value, rationalisation, etc.
    • managing stakeholders at various levels in an organisation
    • leading and agreeing investment decisions at a portfolio and individual application level
    • leading the development of complex application architectures in modern compute paradigms i.e. cloud, microservices
    • leading architectural decisions through to a conclusion in a highly matrixed organisation
    • preparing materials for senior levels including C-Suite

YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will be reporting to the Director for Enterprise Architecture for Applications and Products and work in the central Chief Technology Architecture team. You will be an individual contributor and will have strong dotted line relationship to all the architects working across all our business applications and products.
